About the role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will report to the Manager, Material Handling Engineering and be located at our Peterborough, Ontario, Canada facility. You will have a hybrid work schedule of 2 to 3 days on site.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind tooling

Assemble and test custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished product

Help develop test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications

Help operate the final tooling system in the customer facilities

Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team

Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems or components against applicable codes & standards

Prepare concise design reports and technical specifications.

Promote innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems

Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists

Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems or components
Qualifications:
-
Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution
-
0+ years of experience

Experienced in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes.

Experienced in the design/building of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems, electro-mechanical systems.

Experienced in working within 3D CAD systems

Familiarity with manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques.

Comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
