What you will be doing!

What we are looking for:
- Education
- College diploma or university degree within an OSH, IH or a combined field from an accredited Canadian or international program, or an extensive set of OSH and IH training and certification across various topics.
- Possess, or must be able to possess, minimum professional credentials as a CRST and NCSO.
- CRSP or equivalent recognized designations like the CSP or CMIOSH are additionally preferred, as is possessing an ROHT.
- Experience
- At least 4-6 years of OSH and IH experience in an equivalent role within complex nuclear, research & technology, heavy construction projects, heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, mining, oil & gas, or other civil or environmental remediation experience.
- Experience within a radiation safety and/or protection setting is an asset but not required.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Technical & practical OSH and IH knowledge, including competent person and/or train-the-trainer credentials, on various topics such as hazardous energy control, hoisting & rigging, ground disturbance, boring/digging/coring, fall protection, excavation and trenching, marine safety, heavy equipment operation, emergency & hazardous material release response, electrical safety, confined space.
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene in areas such as Asbestos, Silica, hazardous products/WHMIS, noise, heat stress, confined space entry, and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE&C).
- Knowledge of air sampling methodologies to sample various particular VOC and other hazards.
- Practical knowledge in asbestos abatement, confined space entry and air monitoring practices.
- Detailed practical knowledge of Canadian provincial and federal OSH legislative requirements, compliance frameworks, standards and industry best practices.
- Completion of OSH risk registers, hazard assessments, Job Hazard Assessment/Job Safety Analysis, and working with behavior-based safety programs.
- Working knowledge of root-cause analysis principles and tools such as Taproot, Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and other safety analytical tools.
- Ability to maintain and grow safety knowledge, including industry best practices and pending changes in legislation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to critically review contractor plans and provide meaningful feedback.
- Outstanding relationship management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Understand and can interpret safety statistics and performance metrics
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables and task pressures.
- Able to effectively handle and diffuse difficult situations in real-time with internal and external clients.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Physically fit, able to be physically active (standing, walking) for up to 12 hrs a day. Able to manage stairs, ladders, and other egress equipment that enter all site and building areas, including confined spaces.
- Extensive walking on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
- Must be willing and able to wear a respirator and other PPE&C as required.
- Compressed work week, 4x10, to encourage work/life balance.
