Reactor Inspection Tooling is used by Candu Energy Inc. Field Services to perform fuel channel inspections and/or better optimize the fuel channel end of life durations.
The Candu Energy team is made up of talented engineers and technicians who maintain & refurbish toolheads and execute periodic outages at site.
The Candu Energy team is seeking a motivated and energetic Technical Lead to manage all technical aspects of reactor inspection tooling project delivery to ensure readiness for site execution work.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
The Reactor Inspection Tooling Technical Lead will be responsible for, or adequately delegate, the following activities:
- Tracking of project progress of all technical deliverable & tasks related to reactor inspection tooling project work.
- Progress reporting to the Project Manager, while appropriately escalating issues as they arise.
- Authoring and/or review of technical deliverables such as, but not limited to, test plans, route sheets, inspection and test plans (ITPs), drawings, engineering change notices (ECNs) and technical reports.
- Coordination & expediting of assembly & manufacturing work both in the SP3 facility and external suppliers.
- Execution & tracking of project procurement activities such as issuing requisitions for quote, reviewing proposals & awarding purchase orders, as well as tracking & trending delivery dates to evaluate against project needs.
- Participate as a member of outage crew either as shift supervisor or as site lead, possibly in an analyst role.
- Support the Project Manager in development of planning activities such as schedules, person-power requirements, activity durations and cost estimates.
- Engage in client-facing reporting duties, updating the Customer on project progress and deep involvement in resolution of technical challenges.
- Execution of engineering change notice process, from conceptual design and detailed design to prototyping and testing programs, through to final ECN closeout.

The ideal candidate:
The Reactor Inspection Tooling Technical Lead must have the following as a minimum:
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering, preferably with Professional Engineer designation.
- 10+ years' experience in the nuclear industry, preferably in a field or site-oriented position either in reactor maintenance or refurbishment / new-build construction.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication and well versed in managing a diverse technical team of engineers and technicians.
- Exposure to supply chain & procurement processes, having evaluated technical tenders and selected successful bidders for award.
- Solid Understanding of Engineered Drawing (GAs, SAs, Assembly, etc) & Strong Understanding for Disposition of Dimensional Deviations.
- Proficiency in Technical Writing (Test Plans, Reports, Procedures, Work Instructions, Troubleshooting Plans).
- Strong aptitude in tooling & systems troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Preferably site access & security cleared to at least one of Bruce Power or OPG sites.
- Traits:
- High attention to detail, while also understanding the value for our customer in a project environment.
- Comfortable & versed in client facing roles, can handle high level of customer oversight.
- Strong communication skills, articulate in both written & verbal modes.
- Strong presentation skills particularly with clients and contractors.
- Willingness & aptitude to train / mentor junior personnel on the team.
- Patient, calm and cool under pressure.
