About the role:
As a Mechanical Engineering I you will join a creative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
You will report to the Manager, Mechatronic Systems and Analysis and be located at our Peterborough, Ontario, office. You will have a hybrid working arrangement of 2 to 3 days on-site.
Main Responsibilities:

Provide input and help develop conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process

Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and components against applicable codes & standards

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports

Prepare clear design reports and technical specifications
-
Perform Engineering Quality evaluation of materials and components following the CSA N299 program

Inspire creativity and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems

Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or components
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering

Working to obtain the Professional Engineering license through the Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineering)

0 years of relevant experience required.

Understanding of conceptual design development, with design reviews and engineering change control processes

Understanding of equipment substantiation, typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems or power/processing systems

Understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques

Skills within 3D CAD systems such as Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor
