Cameco Fuel Manufacturing is seeking a temporary Controls Systems Technologist to join our manufacturing automation team. This entry-level position offers extensive mentorship and training opportunities, with a focus on developing expertise in factory automation development, design, and execution. The temporary term is expected to be for approximately 12 months and is straight day shift.
Position and Responsibilities
Provide day to day support of the existing manufacturing control systems, production loss tracking system, and infrastructure, including but not limited to SCADA, PLC, HMI and SQL software and factory automation hardware such as robotics, CNC controls, motion hardware and various sensors.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Three-year diploma in Electrical or Electromechanical Technology
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with automation equipment
- Basic understanding of PLC programming concepts
- Familiarity with industrial automation principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Basic understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols
- Basic Python programming knowledge
- Understanding of software development fundamentals
- Strong commitment to learning and professional development
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Assets:
- Basic knowledge of Rockwell Automation PLCs, motion systems, statistical analysis and data visualization
- Familiarity with Ignition SCADA software, database concepts, SQL, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Understanding of manufacturing metrics (OEE, downtime tracking), and lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), and equipment reliability concepts
- Knowledge of software development best practices
- Enthusiasm for industrial automation
- Strong desire to learn and grow professionally
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to manufacturing excellence
- Attention to detail and safety consciousness
