What is the Opportunity?
Candu Energy Inc. is a leading full-service nuclear technology company providing nuclear power reactors and nuclear products and services to customers worldwide. Our 1,400 highly skilled employees design and deliver state-of-the-art CANDU® reactors, carry out life extension projects, provide plant life management programs and tools, and offer operation and maintenance services for existing nuclear power stations.
A 16-month co-op position, for candidates interested in working on the cost control, accounting and finance planning on a large scale construction project. Reporting to the Canatom Cost control manager, the Junior cost controller will work with the cost control team on Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) Project, on various cost control scopes.
What You'll Do Here:
- Control project cost accounts, charging codes management. Set up and maintain WBS in operation systems.
- Support preparation of invoices through providing cost support information (via oracle timesheet/vendor invoices/etc).
- matching invoice to purchase order and verify that contents of invoice are in line with purchase order and commitments, then accurately input invoice to PM+/costing system and initiate the workflow approval of the invoice.
- Incurred cost reconciliation and cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare Accruals for procurement/subcontractors.
- Work with Procurement to help assess procurement and subcontractor progress.
- Record PO from procurement system, in Costing system and analyze commitments for POs.
- Trending of actuals data and analysis of forecast.
- Special assignments, ad hoc reports and other related duties as required.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Engineering student preferred, minimum 2nd year or higher.
- Knowledge of Power plant technology and CANDU nuclear generating stations will be beneficial to the position.
- Working knowledge of regular financial processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects is an asset.
- Report writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Flexible, ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and time-pressured environment.
- Familiar with MS Office suite, and in particular expertise with MS Excel is required.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 and Oracle 12would be beneficial, but not mandatory.
- Effective problem solving skills with a results oriented approach.
- Strong analytical skills.
