Your role within the team:
Under supervision/guidance of Senior Engineers, provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.
- Develop, prepare and/or review engineering design deliverables (e.g. design specification, over-pressure protection reports, calculations, technical assessments, drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), etc.) for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with applicable company Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Develop heating and cooling systems designs and their controls in accordance with system design requirements.
Perform HVAC design calculations, which may include but not limited to:
- ​heating and cooling loads calculations.
- ventilation requirements calculation based on the type of systems.
- duct sizing and selection.
- pressure drop.
- stack sizing.
- equipment sizing and selection.
- Prepare and review flow diagrams, duct & instrument diagrams (D&ID), general arrangement drawings, isometric drawings and layout drawings.
- Prepare technical specifications, components data sheets and specifications.
- Ensure relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements are adequately applied.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. interdisciplinary design team, client, construction partner, suppliers) as required
- Attend site visits and technical/project meetings as required.

The ideal candidate:
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
- Registered as, or eligible to become, a Professional Engineer in Ontario
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in process system design/analysis; experience/knowledge in areas of HVAC system designs and analyses are assets.
- Strong knowledge in mechanical and/or process system engineering principles, Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow.
- Experience and knowledge of ASHRAE Handbooks and Standards, SMACNA Standards, NBCC, OBC, ACGIH Manual are asset
- Working knowledge of Building Heating Plant and Chilled Water Systems.
- Working knowledge of nuclear pressure boundary codes and standards, including CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME BPVC Section III Division 1 and ASME B31.1 is an asset.
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
