Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for safety, efficiency, and team development? We’re looking for a Yard Supervisor to join our Cambridge, ON team!
In this role, you will oversee daily yard operations, ensuring smooth material handling, storage, and logistics while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. You’ll lead a team of hourly employees, manage schedules, optimize workflows, and drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do:
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance
- Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety
- Conduct monthly safety audits and collaborate with EHS teams to implement improvements
- Investigate and report workplace incidents in coordination with the Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Train employees on proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety protocols
- Conduct safe observations and ensure compliance with industry safety regulations
Operational Leadership & Scheduling
- Supervise shipping, receiving, and material inspection processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Manage yard space utilization, strategically positioning equipment and materials for optimal workflow
- Coordinate with internal teams to prioritize shipments and maintain smooth production operations
- Maintain accurate attendance records, approve vacation requests, and manage timekeeping for employees
- Oversee and enforce company policies in alignment with collective agreements
Process Improvement & Cost Control
- Monitor and optimize inventory tracking and documentation to reduce discrepancies
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in material handling and minimize delays
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining high operational standards
- Support the Plant Manager in short- and long-term business planning and project execution
Employee Training & Development
Train employees in company procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Work closely with the Training Committee to support employee skill development
What You Bring:
- College diploma in Materials Management, Logistics, or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (SAP experience is a plus)
- Willingness to work various shifts to support business needs

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[82,000]] and $[[126,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
