The Civil/Structural Technical Manager is a member of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the C3/4 Project, responsible for guiding a group of Civil engineers and designers. The Technical Manager oversees the execution of design and technical activities in a project delivery environment in accordance with industry standards and established governance. The Technical Manager will report to the project Engineering Director.
Your role within the team:
Provide technical management of individuals and teams executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, some of which may be multi-disciplinary.
This includes:
- Approving technical documents prepared by staff working under them.
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Removing barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
- Providing technical advice to staff and as appropriate subject matter expertise to staff and management.
- Participating in the preparation of commercial proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including skills, capabilities, and durations.
- Interfacing with clients and successfully delivering engineering projects in accordance with customer specification and requirements.
- Working with marketing and other corporate groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.

The ideal candidate:
- Registered Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada, qualified to seal civil engineering documents, or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring.
- 15 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures, including experience leading engineering teams.
- Thorough knowledge of the Codes and Standards used in Civil/Structural engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Additional, preferred qualifications:
- Engineering degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal civil engineering documents.
- 3 years of nuclear and/or CANDU technology experience
- Experience analyzing structural systems and elements as required using ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI and/or other structural programs
- Experience managing and/or performing work under nuclear Codes and Standards such as CSA-N287 and CSA-N289.
- Three or more years of experience leading engineering teams
- Experience managing and/or performing multidisciplinary work with significant interfacing requirements with non-civil engineering disciplines such as licensing, safety analysis, mechanical, electrical/I&C, and process control.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs (Note: the initial site location is at the Mississauga head office in Ontario).
