Our Engineering Group in Western Canada is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager based in Winnipeg, Manitoba to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on healthcare, municipal, federal, industrial, commercial, transit, ports, and educational projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing clients, coordinating skill-sets with other offices and disciplines, and satisfying customer requirements.
As a valued member of our Buildings team working collaboratively as a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager with AtkinsRéalis, you will have a passion for mechanical systems in high-performance buildings of all types. Your technical knowledge of how all mechanical components of building systems including HVAC, plumbing & fire protection systems contribute to building energy efficiency, will set you apart.
Your role within the team
- Manage the process and operations for Mechanical Engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion.
- Resolving complex design/project execution issues through the development of innovative solutions as required.
- Apply Project Management principles on management of own projects and of team members.
- Managing the departmental resource assignment for the appropriate projects staffing while ensuring continuous development of staff.
- Providing mentoring, coaching, technical guidance and quality assurance, to Mechanical Engineers to ensure the technical adequacy of all mechanical engineering work.
- Participating in the preparation of estimates and project proposals (or coordinating resources to do so) and approving the estimates for Mechanical Engineering.
- Maintaining good working relationships with internal stakeholders, the management team, and clients.

The ideal candidate
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGM, PEO, APEGA, APEGS or EGBC.
- Minimum of 10 years experience on heavy industrial projects and building mechanical systems as both a Lead Mechanical Engineer and a Project Manager.
- Specific detailed design experience with any of: tanks and pressure vessels; piping systems; materials handling systems; process equipment; steam systems; compressed air systems; utilities, building mechanical HVAC systems, potable water and sanitary collection systems design would be preferred.
- Thorough understanding of standard engineering methods, technologies and computerized design techniques, as well as knowledge of the interaction with other engineering disciplines and fields of work and have an understanding of applicable regulatory requirements in North America.
- Customer focused team player who is quick to learn and keen to lead or follow as it best serves our client’s interests.
