Our growing organization is seeking like-minded individuals to join our Contaminated Site Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation team.

AtkinsRéalis Environment has one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist to join our Edmonton or Calgary, AB team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with and learning to complete fundamental tasks related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, remedial excavations, and spill response. Other technical responsibilities may include subcontractor supervision and report preparation for peer review.
Your role within the team:
Assistance with/completion of:
- Historical data review and subsequent site inspections.
- Groundwater monitoring and sampling.
- Surface water, soil, and soil vapour sampling.
- Environmental drilling activities.
- Remedial excavations.
- Photographic and written documentation of site activities.
- Communication with on-site personnel and Project Manager.

The ideal candidate:
- Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter.
- Field of study: Engineering, Geology, Agrology, Biology or Environmental Sciences.
- 0 to 2 years of work experience.
- A general understanding of groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, soil descriptions and terminology, and quality assurance / quality control is considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, high energy, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
- Willing to undertake field work year-round and travel throughout Western Canada, at times for extended periods (weeks).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
