About Us
Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
In this role you will be reporting to the shaft Supervisor as well as be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the shafts, hoists and conveyances to meet site targets and regulatory requirements in a safe and efficient manner.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Operating, inspecting and maintaining the main cage and skip conveyance
- Preparing equipment and materials to be moved to and from the underground using slings and rigging
- Assist with headframe, hoistroom and laydown clean up
- Operating equipment such as telehandler and skid steer
- Working with a diverse workforce (Cameco employees, contractors and trades personnel)
- Fulfil all duties as detailed in the mine’s regulations Mine Shaft 3 operator training requirements
Required:
- Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of applicable mine shaft experience
- Must successfully pass the crane and rigging course
- Rotating day/night shift schedule
- Able to work at heights using fall arrest
- Willing to work in confined spaces
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Excellent communication skills and team player attitude
Recommended:
- Previous mine shaft experience
- 40hr Crane and Rigging Certificate
- PME certification ie: telehandler and skidsteer
