About Us
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
What You'll Do Here
- Responsible for training project employees on a variety of Environmental Health and Safety related programs such as Safety Orientation, Human Performance Fundamentals, Safe Work Planning, Respiratory Fit Testing, Elevating Work Platform, First Aid etc.
- Create an environment conducive to learning for employees
- Collaborate across the local organization and network to gather expectations, share best practices and coordinate program requirement
- Manage content of existing training programs and work with SMEs and other project teams to create new training material as needed
- Preparation of training packages and attendance records
- Work with team to plan training schedules and set up courses
- Manage resources including facilities, equipment and availability
- Handle the collection of completed training records and ensure accuracy of records
- Process training records in Learning Management System
- Ensure training material, documents and completion records are stored securely and are retrievable from the shared project folder.
- Manage the nuclear onboarding training coordination and qualification maintenance for new and existing employees including:
- Project/task specific training needs assessment
- Onboard/offboard requests with unions/HR
- Assigning/removing qualifications in LMS
- Create training schedules and work with field to schedule re-qualification training
- Receive and process supporting documentation to meet legislated internal and client requirements
- Provide weekly training reports to the field
- Promote a safety culture that supports continuous improvement in the EHS management system through active communication, participation and development of skills.
- Foster a positive safety culture in which no one gets hurt
What You Bring To The Team
- A working knowledge of Provincial OHS Legislation
- Experience in Health and Safety and training/facilitating within the construction industry
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Construction or Health and Safety
- Demonstrated Leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A designation such as NCSO would be considered an asset
- Train the Trainer Qualifications in programs such as Work at Heights, Confined Space Entry etc.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Knowledge of learning management systems and other learning technologies
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple, concurrent assignments and tasks
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Knowledge of project management concepts
- Strong decision-making skills
