Job Requirements:
- MANDATORY REQUIREMENT - MUST have 5-years' experience in a manufacturing environment with the ability to travel between locations.
- Establish inspection criteria, sampling plans, and gauge requirements for incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
- Review drawings, specifications, and customer standards to ensure compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
- Evaluate measurement data (CMM reports, SPC charts, first article inspections) to verify product conformity.
- Perform detailed dimensional inspections of CNC-machined components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), vision systems, or other automated inspection equipment as required.
- Verify part dimensions against engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, CAD models, and customer specifications.
- Conduct in-process checks directly at the machine to support real-time part verification and setup approvals.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) for new setups, new programs, and revised part numbers.
- Adept at Process Flow, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Planning.
- Validate setups, offsets, and tool changes with machinists to ensure parts remain within tolerance throughout production.
- Monitor critical features during production runs to prevent drift, tool wear issues, and scrap generation.
- Accurately complete inspection reports, FAI documents, and traceability forms.
- Record measurement data in logs, spreadsheets, or digital quality systems.
- Maintain organized records of part inspections, non-conformances, and material traceability for internal and customer review.
- Identify defects such as dimensional variance, tool marks, incorrect radii/chamfers, burrs, surface finish issues, or thread non-conformities.
- Tag and segregate non-conforming parts according to shop procedure.
- Communicate issues clearly to CNC programmers, machinists, or supervisors for immediate correction.
- Conduct visual checks for dents, gouges, contamination, machining marks, and cosmetic requirements.
- Verify surface finish using profilometers or other appropriate instruments.
- Inspect threads, deburring quality, and edge break requirements.
- Work closely with CNC machinists, programmers, and supervisors to resolve inspection issues quickly.
- Provide immediate feedback during production runs to keep scrap and rework costs low.
- Support continuous flow by being present on the floor and available for quick verifications.
- Maintain and care for inspection tools, ensuring they remain clean, accurate, and in calibration.
- Report any damaged or out-of-tolerance instruments to the appropriate team
- Maintain positive working relationships, adhere to and maintain safe work practices, perform other duties as assigned.
This vacant role requires fluency in English (read, write and speak) with 3-5 years Precision Machining Shop experience and 5yrs current work history with Quality Management System (ISO, AS9100, N299).
MUST RESIDE IN PROVINCE OF ONTARIO and have reliable personal transportation (no public transportation available).
