Position and Responsibilities
Work with the Project Engineering department over a wide variety of Plant Engineering assignments.
- Assist Project Engineer with: defining scope, identifying constraints, applying standards, reporting status, reviewing drawings, and communicating with all who are involved.
- As directed by Project Engineer, research and propose industrial hardware solutions; a project may be ongoing during this work term.
- As required, read, interpret, and apply the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code of Canada, the Canada Labour Code, ASHRAE Guidelines, other legal requirements and Cameco documents.
- Create design sketches, and direct the preparation of drawings
- Work with the drafting group to prepare drawings in AutoCAD (optional)
- Other tasks as assigned.
There will be many opportunities to work with other engineering disciplines within the Project Engineering, Project Management and Production Engineering departments; creativity and collaboration is encouraged in design. Your office will be located amongst engineers who will support and encourage you
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Major in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering - Undergraduate
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter, able to identify the objective, jump in and get moving, while asking questions to ensure that things are on track.
- Proficient in computer usage of MS Word, MS Excel and AutoCAD (optional).
- Willing to do research on technical subjects and products beyond formal training.
- Competent in creating accurate hand sketches of site conditions by means measurements and photography.
Must be available for a May 2026 start date (4-8 month term) and be returning to school after work term completion. This role is an onsite/in person position located in Port Hope, Ontario.
