Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed process/ chemical designs as they progress through a structured design process.
- Prepare process/chemical engineering analysis & design reports, calculations.
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team.
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.
- Keep informed of the latest technical developments and techniques through participation in related industry associations and research planning committees, attendance at conferences and prepare technical papers and articles.
What You Need to Succeed
- A four-year university education in Chemical Engineering or equivalent level of experience. Post-graduate degree would be considered an asset.
- At least 8 years of working experience is considered necessary.
- Must be a Registered Engineer in the Province of Ontario or can be licensed within one year.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following specialties:
- Process design in the areas of unit operations such as heat exchangers, dryers, distillation, gas and liquid pumping
- Modeling of chemical process designs / nuclear systems
- Hydrogen process production
- Isotopes separation
- Mechanical/Process design engineering
- Tritium and/or detritylation technology
- Expertise in chemical engineering design tools, strong background in distillation and column design, perform heat and mass balance, strong modeling and simulation skills, strong background in engineering mathematics (specially in differential equation solving).
- Experience in mechanical design engineering is an asset.
- Working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to nuclear power plants and modular skid-based designs is an asset.
- Demonstrated strong customer skills and capabilities to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible in areas of work and the ability to work in a team environment.
- OPG and Bruce Power Security Clearance is an asset
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
