What will you be doing!
- Preparing of engineering drawings and related documents for civil, architectural, structural, building services, and/or HVAC designing.
- Preparing and revising CADD drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil3D.
- Revising hand drawings.
- Conducting walk downs to support, troubleshoot, and make revisions to civil, building services, outdoor services, architectural, structural, and/or HVAC systems.
- Updating the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) or the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) documentation for equipment on Instrument, Valve, or Equipment lists.
- Identifying and requesting additional resources required to complete assigned work on schedule.
- Providing support in the preparation of as-built drawings.
- Effectively managing multiple tasks/assignments.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education.
Or Secondary School graduation diploma or equivalent and normally has more than 3 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Experience
- Experience working with close, frequent or systematic supervision;
- Experience solving and/or providing recommendations for technical issues;
- Experience Interpreting marked up drawings.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be capable of producing neat, legible, and accurate drawings in reasonable time;
- Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and able to follow and implement complex procedures;
- Initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers as well as both internal and external customers in a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of design drafting technique and practice.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
This position is part of the USW1568 Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW1568 Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.

Location: Hybrid
Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, our Chalk River site offers a beautiful natural setting with forests, lakes, and wildlife right at your doorstep. Surrounding communities such as Deep River, Petawawa, and Pembroke provide access to excellent recreation and a great quality of life.
Please note: This is a hybrid position, with a combination of remote work and onsite presence at our Chalk River Laboratory, Ontario.
