The Manager is accountable to provide leadership and direction to results‑driven teams and is accountable for maximizing staff development, performance, and engagement in alignment with departmental and corporate objectives. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this role manages the engineering activities required to support the licensing, design, and development of the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) program. Responsibilities include overseeing technical engineering deliverables, coordinating project management and scheduling from an engineering perspective, ensuring robust project controls, and fostering productive vendor relationships and partnerships to advance SMR engineering objectives.
The position supports informed decision‑making and negotiations while ensuring alignment with SaskPower’s expectations and provincial government strategic direction related to nuclear development.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Participate in the development, implementation and management of departmental and corporate policies and programs, including the implementation and administration of financial and administrative controls
• Provide leadership and direction to the SMR Engineering department to support the SMR project to deploy a BWRX-300 reactor in Saskatchewan.
• Provide technical guidance to the SMR Engineering department on nuclear related maters.
• Participate in the planning, coordination, and management of engineering activities to support adherence to project schedules, budget estimates, and delivery commitments.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through effective planning, problem solving, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collect, analyze, and report engineering delivery data to support informed operational and strategic decision making.
• Assist in the development and delivery of presentations to SaskPower’s Executive, Board of Directors and/or other Government committees regarding policies, programs and/or budgets
• Participate in planning sessions with senior management to align delivery objectives with departmental and corporate strategies.
• Build, develop, and lead a high performing team by directing work, providing coaching and mentorship, supporting career planning, and ensuring effective workforce planning and succession.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Degree in Engineering, or other related equivalent AND/OR a suitable combination of education and experience. Post-graduate degree would be considered an asset.
• Seven (7) years of related experience in the nuclear industry.
• Strong team leader and member with the ability to select and develop staff and influence the performance of others
• Ability to impact and influence employee engagement and development, while focusing on teamwork and holding people accountable
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to foster relationships within SaskPower, across Suppliers, and the Nuclear ecosystem in Canada and abroad.
