We’re hiring a Production Superintendent to join our Operations team at Cameco’s Port Hope facility. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will work in collaboration with other groups to deliver site and department level objectives and targets. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong people and problem-solving skills who is committed to continuous improvement.
Position and Responsibilities
Located at our Port Hope facility, this position involves the following responsibilities:
- Lead and support CFM’s objective to improve safety performance by working collaboratively with all team members. Focus includes conventional safety management activities such as accident / incident investigation and corrective actions as well as advancing a safety culture and behaviours consistent with Cameco’s expectations through team involvement
- Provide leadership and direction to Production and Logistics Supervisors across a three shift, 5-day operation
- Manage staffing and resource requirements while adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Effectively communicate and cooperation with support departments to achieve safety, environment, and product quality targets
- Develop annual and 3-year budgets and manage spending within your plan for Production, Waste Treatment/Janitorial and Logistics groups
- Apply data driven analysis and systematic approach to solving issues that arise
- Approve area changes for the Port Hope facility and sponsor both sustaining and improvement capital projects within your area of responsibility
- Improve performance of the organization through employee performance coaching and skill development
- Participate, plan and lead continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence initiatives to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Post-secondary education (Engineering, Science or Business degree or diploma)
- Leadership experience in manufacturing (5+ years)
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and relationship building skills
- Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships in a unionized environment
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
Assets:
- Experience in Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
- Knowledge of Causal Analysis Tools
- Operating experience in a highly regulated industry
- Understanding of Quality Assurance standards such as CSA N285, Z299, ISO9000, NQA-1 and ASME
