Overview
AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland and is currently seeking a Resident Engineer to join the Transportation team.
Your role
As a Resident Engineer, you will be the key representative on‑site, ensuring successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects across multiple disciplines. Your responsibilities will include:
- Project Leadership: Oversee all aspects of construction delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Contract Administration: Administer commercial aspects of contracts, including assessment of interim and final accounts, variations, claims, and contractor performance against KPIs. Ensure works are carried out in line with contract documents and specifications, including rigorous testing and quality assurance.
- Health & Safety Oversight: Review and monitor Contractor documentation and performance, including HSQE submissions (RAMS, TMPs), CEMPs, quality plans, and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main interfacing point of contact for the Client, project managers, and contractors, providing clear updates and resolving issues promptly.
- Site Supervision: Conduct regular site inspections, safety reviews, and quality audits, ensuring works are completed in accordance with specifications and approved proposals.
- Supervise construction activities, maintain detailed project records, and support the coordination and monitoring of commissioning works to achieve timely project completion.
- Risk & Issue Management: Report and manage incidents, assist in investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor workmanship and materials to meet required standards, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
About you
- Relevant degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or related Civil Engineering discipline.
- Experience in the site supervision of civil engineering construction works.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, regulatory compliance, safety auditing and RAMS review.
- Experience in reviewing design submissions.
- Basic understanding of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts (not essential but desirable).
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, such as GCC and FIDIC, and experience in the assessment of Contractor claims and payment applications.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or large-scale construction projects including utilities.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance Systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Able to travel to site.
