The Junior Buyer supports the material control department by sourcing, evaluating, purchasing goods and services that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements for all Mirion Technologies (IST Canada) ULC products.
This position fills an existing vacancy.
Essential Duties
- Prepare request for quotes, proposals, and other vendor information/documentation as required.
- Negotiate for the best possible quantity, price, and delivery terms for MRO supplies.
- Generate Purchase Orders raw materials, components, plant supplies, fabricated components including materials with proper revision levels.
- Provide analysis on costs, create bid summaries and review cost reduction activities.
- Follow-up and expedite orders as necessary.
- Proactively identify, implement and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend and participate in meetings as required – departmental, cross-functional, supplier, etc.
- Help to update inventory to ensure that stock is always kept at appropriate levels, including through cycle counting.
- Responsible for the safe use of confidential information such as price lists, agreements, engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assist in maintaining or creating procedures within the department.
- Assist in reviewing supply base, including reviews existing suppliers, sources new suppliers, meet with suppliers as required. Develop relationships with vendors through verbal communication, rather than email alone.
- Maintain and distribute a variety of reports.
- Help to coordinate logistics for transport and customers, establish delivery schedules, enforce fulfillment of contracts, and communicate with customers and suppliers to solve problems as required. Escalate to Manager when necessary.
- Keep the Purchasing/Materials informed of all activities or problems and submit reports as requested by management.
- Administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, filing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Duties
- Prepare and distribute reports on prescribed schedule and ad hoc.
- Retrieve and transfer Engineering documentation to folder accessible by material control department.
- Request workorders aligned with master schedule.
- Assist with physical inventories
- Be trained and perform tasks as back-up for others in material control department.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements
- EDUCATION
- Community College Diploma or equivalent in business or supply chain
- Strong computer skills in the Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 to 3 years with experience in a purchasing role in a Manufacturing Environment.
Salary: $45,000 – 55,000 CAD
