McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
As an independent and enthusiastic member of the human resources team, your primary responsibility is to ensure functional facility operations and provide the best possible guest experience at the McArthur River Operation. Site facilities you oversee include the commercial kitchen and dining areas, dormitory resident rooms, laundry facilities, recreational areas, offices, communications systems, shower and change facilities, and lunch/coffee rooms.
This opportunity has a large recreation focus, and the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing various recreational, wellness, and social activities throughout the year. You will also be responsible for assisting with contractor coordination as required, where you will support the day-to-day execution of the catering and cleaning contract.
This is a 12-month temporary position.
In this role, you will:
- plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational, wellness, and social activities (e.g., fitness classes, sports leagues, tournaments, special events, barbeques, and wellness initiatives).
- work with onsite committees and social clubs to build support for a variety of recreational events.
- adapt programs to accommodate diverse interests, abilities, and cultural considerations.
- oversee recreational facilities (e.g., gym, fitness rooms, games rooms, outdoor spaces) to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- maintain the recreational equipment by monitoring inventory levels, coordinating repairs, and organizing replacements as needed.
- ensure proper use of facilities and compliance with site rules and safety standards.
- conduct regular inspections in the site guest rooms, common areas, kitchens, and office facilities to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- communicate with the catering, housing, and janitorial service provider to ensure adherence to the contract terms.
- identify projects for the long-term sustainability of the facilities and continual improvement opportunities.
Required:
- diploma in hospitality management (hotel/restaurant/tourism) with five to eight years of relevant work experience or;
- bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or hospitality management with two to three years of relevant work experience;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- experience with facilities management and budgeting;
- excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
- commitment to service, building relationships, and employee well-being;
- able to work with minimal direction within a multi-functional team; and
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
- previous SAP experience;
- food safe certification;
- ergonomic experience and certification; and
- experience planning, coordinating, or managing events.
Conditions of Employment:

- class 5 driver’s license.
