What is the Opportunity?
As the Human Resources Manager, you oversee and support all HR functions, including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, training and development, and compensation benefits for the Joint Venture (JV) Project. In this role you will work closely with the Project/Partner teams to ensure HR strategies/initiatives support business objectives and enhance overall employee experience and engagement.
What You’ll Do Here:
Employee Relations
- Effective situation/ conflict management, working closely with managers to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely
- Identify potential employee relations issues, resolving as appropriate and elevating to legal and parent company’s HR leads as needed
- Proactive outreach HR communications (supporting town halls, leadership/ operational team meetings, etc.)
- Case management and investigations
- Coaching managers and employees as required, applying progressive discipline principles as appropriate
- JV Policy creation, interpretation and application
- Work closely with applicable home company HR teams to facilitate promotions, demotions, transfers, relocations, retirements, and terminations in a professional manner. Ensuring balance between project and employee needs
Recruitment
- Provide headcount projection and strategic workforce planning support
- Collaborate with hiring managers to schedule and participate in interviews
- Interview alongside hiring managers, performing thorough candidate assessments
- Compensation & Benefits
- Work with the Home Company Human Resources team on any disability case management
- Talent Management
- Support managers with performance management and objective setting during the regular cycle as well as when required. Effectively creating clear connections to Project plans
- Facilitate Talent Reviews for the project teams and ensure appropriate follow-up on actions
- Ensure training needs for the business are evaluated and appropriate training selected, reinforced and tracked
- Support succession management initiatives and ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for the project
- HR Team Management
- Work closely with the home company Human Resources teams to keep them continually up to date on all project Human Resources issues
What You Bring to the Team:
- Post secondary education in Human Resources Management
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in an HR Business Partner function with preference for people leadership experience
- Demonstrated partnership with senior leaders, consultative decision-making, and hands-on employee relations support.
- Versatility and full-scope HR portfolio capability (end-to-end employee life cycle) including workforce planning, recruitment strategy, onboarding, performance management, development planning, compensation discussions, investigations, and offboarding
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and collaborative environment/ structure with high resiliency. Previous experience working on JV major project is a strong asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle, with willingness to frequently travel to project sites within Ontario
- Superior problem-solving skills, ability to manage complex scenarios
- Tactful and effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels within the organization and influence as required
- Ability to build a consensus among peers to support human resources strategies
- Strong Microsoft Office and HRIS knowledge
- Accurate and detail oriented
- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
Reason for Vacancy: New
The expected pay range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 CAD per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
