Position and Responsibilities
As a member of the maintenance department, you will be responsible for maintaining electrical distribution systems and electrically powered equipment in accordance with code requirements. Specific duties related to this include; installation, removal, inspection and repair of electric motors, transformers, substation MCC starters, generators, control relays, battery charging system and hand tools; installation of PLC control cards, wiring and troubleshooting ladder logic programs; troubleshooting electrical circuitry; repairing and maintaining plant lighting systems; inspection and repair of incoming high voltage line; and ensuring diesel backup power and UPS power are maintained. The incumbent is required to know the significant environmental aspects and impacts associated with the job and how to perform the job to minimize those impacts.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Interprovincial Journeyman Industrial Electrician
- A minimum of three years of trades-related industrial experience with voltage higher than 240 volts
- PLC programming experience
- Good problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work in accordance with established procedures and work practices are essential
- WHMIS knowledge and familiarity with computers would be an asset
