About Us
Rabbit Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced there is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out environmental compliance monitoring activities such as collecting, preparing and shipping environmental samples, data entry and synthesis, and report preparation. You will be required to conduct environmental site inspections and assist in wildlife management activities and programs, as well as assist with environmental emergency response and providing support during environmental events. You will assist in providing training and information to employees on environmental issues and environmental aspects of the operation.
We are seeking an employee who will take on a role with the site Emergency Response and Mine Rescue Team. As a member of the team, you will receive emergency response and mine rescue training to support our ability to safely address emergencies that might arise on site, including both surface and underground fire and rescue situations. Time will be provided to participate in first aid, fire, and other emergency response exercises and scenarios. Participation will be subject to successful completion of medical testing.
Required:
- Environmental/radiation technician certificate or diploma
- Three to six years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Demonstrated field experience working in remote locations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Recommended:
- Emergency Response Team (ERT) and/or Mine Rescue Team (MRT) experience
- Valid firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
- Previous experience in basic equipment maintenance (snowmobile, outboard motor, all-terrain vehicle, ice auger, and chainsaw) and calibration of field instruments used in environmental sampling
