Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world. The Role
As a member of the technical services team, you will report to the chief structural engineer and provide civil engineering support and technical solutions to Cameco site operations, projects, and other business units. Projects will be based at Cameco’s Northern Saskatchewan and/or Ontario sites and you will occasionally visit these locations.
In this role, you will:
- Perform civil design and/or oversee the design of large construction projects, including roads, railways, airports, bridges, dams, storm/sewerage systems, pipelines, etc.
- Be responsible for scope development, planning, and cost estimating to support business cases over the asset life cycle.
- Work with civil designers for CAD work in support of development of civil 3D models and 2D drawings including all construction details.
- Develop and revise technical specification, work on scope of supply, BOMs, MTOs, CWPs and construction work packages.
- Be responsible for ensuring that the design work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, design criteria, and regulatory requirements.
- Inspecting completed civil projects for compliance with industry codes, specifications, and safety standards.
- Preparing work schedules and allocating resources, as well as supervising junior engineers, technicians, and contractors.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Seven to 10 years of relevant work experience
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) as well as Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Strong communication, collaboration, planning and organizational skills
Intermittent travel to Cameco’s northern sites by aircraft and to Ontario locations
Able to work independently
Self-motivated, reliable, strong work ethic, natural enthusiasm
Recommended:
- Previous experience in projects related to the mining industry
- In depth Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards
- Knowledge of 3D viewer software such as Navisworks, Jetstream, point cloud
