About Us
McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
This is a 1-year temporary position.
The Role
The McArthur River Geology department is responsible for discovering and tracking ore onsite. With that comes all the data collection and processing that is involved. The geological technician will have tasks assigned to them related to production, development, and exploration on site.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Geotechnical logging, prepping samples, and storing of the diamond drill core
- Diamond drill support including radiometric probing and site inspections
- Underground development mapping
- Production downhole surveys and probing
- Data QA/QC including survey and probing processing, probe checks, & daily information
- Underground production and surface haulage from the underground and surface scanners
Required:
- Geological Technology or Mining Technology diploma
- Two or more years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Strong verbal and written communication skills & excellent computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to perform manual labour, including heavy lifting, as required for this position
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Safety-oriented work attitude Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Previous experience with exploration or in a mine geology work environment
- Experience working underground
