McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The Role
As a member of the Maintenance Engineering team, you will report to the Chief Engineer, Maintenance at the McArthur River Operation.
In this role, you will:
- Provide electrical engineering technical & troubleshooting support to mine maintenance & operation team on a regular basis.
- Perform electrical system failure investigations & provide recommendations as required to improve reliability of electrical infrastructure & equipment. This may include developing standard work instruction or operating procedures or managing electrical drawing updates etc.
- Prepare key electrical engineering project documents including scope, plans, high level cost estimate, drawings, specifications, data sheets, bid and other construction documents to manage the electrical engineering improvement & sustaining projects
- Provide technical oversight for work completed by external engineering consultants & Cameco electrical engineering technical services team when required.
- Responsible for ensuring that the design work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Be required to multitask and prioritize including taking initiative to independently drive projects forward from electrical engineering & project management prospective.
- Coordinate and provide technical support to the construction management team as a subject matter prospective
- Provide support to annual electrical maintenance & electrical contractors as required including planning & execution strategy.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- 4 to 8 years of experience in the field of maintenance & improvement of electrical system or infrastructures in a production environment. Preferably, underground & surface mining operations.
- A wide knowledge in various aspects of electrical engineering, familiarity with applicable electrical codes & standards, high and medium voltage installations, electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, system improvement, operational reliability.
- Solid knowledge in generators, transformer & distribution system, large size motors, PLCs, sleds, MCC system, switchgears/breakers/relays and other electrical equipment.
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and/or with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Familiarity of instrument & control systems will be considered as assets.
- Hands-on-experience on improvement of electrical infrastructure, troubleshooting, providing guidance to electrical maintenance team
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
