We are looking for a Quality Manager to support the Advance Nuclear Materials Research Centre (ANMRC) and ensuring that the CNL’S oversight of the Project Quality Management System (QMS) is fully implemented in an organized and efficient manner. What you will be doing!
- Advising on quality codes and standards as applied to projects and facility operation;
- Providing guidance to customers in the application of quality standards
- Assessments of existing and potential suppliers and subcontractor suppliers of items and services.
- Ensuring products or services being procured as part of the ANMRC project for CNL that have quality program requirements are procured from qualified suppliers who have the ability to deliver a technically acceptable product or service;
- Reviewing bid-evaluations on supplier proposals against quality requirements;
- Reviewing adequacy and effectiveness of vendor/customer corrective action plans in response to audit/assessment/surveillance findings
- Assign roles in planning, executing and reporting of quality-related surveillance activities on behalf of CNL.
- Provides facilitation and training in surveillance.
- Identifying conditions adverse to quality
- Identifying and reporting conditions adverse to quality to ensure the timely resolution of quality related issues;
- Facilitating the completion of corrective actions by project and supplier responsible leaders including non-conforming items;
- Supports the Corrective Action Program by providing leadership and/or support of continual quality improvement initiatives, including performance of Apparent Cause Assessment (ACA) and or Root Cause Assessment (RCA).
What we are looking for:
- Responsible for ensuring that the CNL’S oversight of the Project Quality Management System (QMS) is fully implemented in an organized and efficient manner.
- Responsible for delegating and assigning tasks to CNL Quality Assurance Representatives (QAR) and Quality Control (QC) inspectors and working closely with CNL engineering staff, and interfacing with project design, construction and fabrication contractors as CNL’s owner surveillance point of contact. This position will give confidence that CNL’s project requirements are being assessed and monitored to confirm contractual compliance
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following quality-related requirements: CSA N286-12, ISO 9001, CSA N299, CSA N286.7, CSA B51, and ASME NQA-1.
- Quality-applied Certificates/Certifications: ASQ, CQA, CSQP, would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of a variety of software applications to compile data and create reports such as the use of Microsoft Office, and various industry related Documents/Records management systems.
- Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, trust, and discretion in handling and safeguarding sensitive and confidential information. Able to handle conflict and manage towards a positive outcome.
- Auditing and/or assessment training and experience would be an asset.
- Advanced knowledge in the conduct and reporting of audits and the translation of findings into corrective actions plans that mitigate risks to the company, to subject safety and data integrity.
- Good judgment, initiative, strong drive, positive attitude and consistent, careful attention to detail are essential in this position to ensure accurate work and meet client/customer requirements, solve problems, obtain, and analyze data.
- Identify conditions adverse to quality and report these to the appropriate level of project line management, and to the Director of Quality as required to resolve quality-related issues.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality work and professional standards
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

- This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River, which will be the designated workplace. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
