The Role
Cameco Corporation and Orano Canada Inc., as part of their Athabasca Community Relations program, are seeking a full-time Community Relations Liaison to work out of the community of Hatchet Lake Denesųłiné First Nation or the northern settlement of Wollaston Lake. This position is one of three Community Liaison positions for the Athabasca Basin communities. This position’s primary responsibility will be to the Hatchet Lake Denesųłiné First Nation and the northern settlement of Wollaston Lake.
In this role, you will:
- Assist Cameco and Orano with the implementation of the Athabasca Ya’thi Néné Collaboration Agreement
- Assist Cameco, Orano and their long-term contractors with recruitment efforts for Athabasca residents in connection with the operations, including presentations to high school and post-secondary students
- Assist Cameco and Orano in maintaining a skills database and support skill development training plans and development strategies
- Liaise with Cameco and Orano mine sites, Hatchet Lake Denesųłiné First Nation and the northern settlement Wollaston Lake, including operation and community visits
- Represent Cameco and Orano at Chief/council and public meetings
- Answer inquiries related to the operations, and
- Coordinate logistical plans and provide Dene translations and emcee meetings as required.
Required:
- Grade 12 and two to three years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to speak Dene and English
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Frequent travel on short notice
