The Role
The Chief Engineer, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is responsible for leading the electrical engineers/technologists and the instrumentation engineers/technologists to execute Technical Services (TS) projects. This role is expected to be the most senior electrical or instrumentation engineer in Cameco and is responsible for the technical and people performance of the E&I team. All project items of an E&I nature are expected to be solved by the team under the leadership of this position.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and supervise a team of engineers and technologists responsible for front end engineering reports, as well as feasibility studies and detailed design for sustaining and major capital projects. This includes developing engineering estimates at each stage of the project
- Provide engineering oversight: oversee and approve design work completed by external engineering consults
- Plan upcoming work for the team: assesses resource availability and assign resources to projects
- Set and enforce standards for the discipline
- May assist with engineering design tasks if/as available
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- 10 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably in a mining environment
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng)
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Strong leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills Occasional travel to site by aircraft
