The Role
Reporting to the Manager, CMO, and as a key member of the projects and construction team, you will be responsible for managing our onsite contractors at our Blind River Refinery and will ensure we have safe, efficient and high-quality work from them. This role will monitor work completed by the contractors and confirm it is completed as intended and in an efficient manner.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible to ensure contractors are working in a safe manner and abiding by all safety program requirements
- Coordinate between contractor and site to remove any roadblocks and plan out available work fronts
- Validate and approve contractor submitted labour, equipment and material (LEM’s) reports
- Review and/or develop detailed work plans according to Cameco’s workface planning processes
- Perform supervision, when required, of direct field labour to ensure the work is completed safely and to a high-quality standard
- Inspect completed work to confirm it is completed to appropriate standards, identifying deficiencies and managing the completion of deficiencies
- Monitor the schedule and productivity of work and collaborate with contractors and operations personnel to resolve issues and barriers Coordinate field activities between contractors and the Cameco operations team as required
Required:
- Valid inter-provincial certificate of qualification as a journeyperson in a skilled trade
- Eight or more years of experience in managing construction projects and contractors with several years in a brownfield construction environment
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Experience in monitoring schedules and productivity of work performed by contractors
- Experience with multi-discipline mechanical work (ex. mechanical equipment, piping)
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, ability to monitor and switch through multiple tasks nearly simultaneously, concise and efficient communication
Recommended:
- Journeyperson trade ticket in mechanical/piping
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO)
