Your Opportunity
This full-time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As an HR Operations & Labour Relations Specialist in Kincardine or Pickering, Ontario, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include:
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates labour and employee relations strategies including policies, programs and procedures to ensure alignment with enterprise methodology and best practice.
- Supports a cooperative and collaborative labour relations approach by providing consistent application and guidance on the collective agreement and maintaining positive working relationships with union representatives.
- Conducts research and provides recommendations regarding the interpretation of collective agreements and makes recommendations on resolutions of labour relations matters.
- Coordinates hiring of trades and apprentices with applicable union halls.
- Leads activities and maintains strong understanding related to negotiating, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to the organizations’ collective agreements.
- Manages grievance meetings and the preparation of case files, including background research on specific aspects of the case.
- Builds relationships with key stakeholders and partners to ensure a fair and equitable approach to labour relations.
- Ensures regulatory compliance by maintaining an up-to-date understanding of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees (Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and partners with legal department as needed/required.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Conducts effective, thorough, and objective workforce investigations that lead to fair and timely resolution of labour and employee relations issues.
- Develops leadership that is accountable and focused employee engaged culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance as well as responsible succession planning.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
- Advises management on compensation decisions to include salary planning, incentive program implementation, job descriptions and compensation reviews.
