We are currently recruiting for a Financial Analyst for our Peterborough, Ontario location.
JOB PURPOSE:
Monitor all financial aspects of contracts which include project set-up, budget changes and revenue recognition. Prepare and issue sales invoices to customer and follow up on accounts receivables. Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts, financial reports and variance analysis reports.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Projects and Sales Orders: project revenue and cost alignment; Project’s financial position will be properly and accurately stated and maintained
- Responsible for Fixed Price Fuel contracts.
- Determine contract Revenue Recognition per ASC605-35.
- Set up and maintain projects in JDE/SAP.
- Upload Project Structures and Budgets to JDE/SAP.
- Prepare scope change or CCN’s for contract changes (sell price and budget changes).
- Monitor budget, costs and cash flow; budget vs. actuals.
- Complete month end accruals for revenue recognition or other project accruals that are required.
- Review month end revenue recognition results for projects and sales orders.
- Calculate and report on monthly production variances and cost of quality. Prepare monthly project variance reports.
Customer Invoicing: accurate and timely invoicing
- Work with Fuel Operations QA to issue customer billings.
- Review cost reports, reconcile WIP, accrue for penalty/bonus positions.
- Work with customer to calculate and implement yearly interim pricing.
Forecasting: Accurate and timely forecasting both cost center, and Revenue / GP
- Monthly forecast for backlog projects, including booking, revenue, budget, actual cost, gross profit, billings, receipts, as well as support for treasury cash forecast.
- Work with Project Managers and Project Controls to forecast backlog projects.
- Enter quarterly forecast in BPC and ensure the forecast is balanced in BPC. The forecast is completed for all assigned backlog projects, sales orders as well as New Business Projects.
Meeting Preparation: Reporting for internal cost reviews, managerial, and department meetings will be accurately prepared and on time
- Prepare documents for internal cost review meeting as follows; P&L variance reporting, contract profit statement (hours and dollars), risk and opportunity list, CCN reports, billing schedule, cash flow, aged accounts receivable.
- Work with Project Manager to complete Risk and Opportunity list as well as Critical Issues.
- Provide documents for internal monthly reviews, i.e. project review meetings.
Additional Activities/Special Requests: Additional requests will be accommodated whenever possible with accuracy and care.
- Provide information to internal and external auditors.
- Ensure audit, SOX, and internal procedural requirements are being followed.
- Provide input and update quarterly/yearly corporate templates.
- Month end general accounting duties.
- Support CONCUR expense reporting system.
- Support adhoc requests from various stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or financial work experience, preferably in supply chain/commercial finance, cost reporting.
- Holds or working towards a current CPA license.
- Preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in financial and project accounting.
- Strong communication skills in English both verbal and written.
- Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.

- Team player: able to work across different teams and contribute to a positive environment.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000.00 and $96,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
