Job Summary: The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding our systems and data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the security of our highly regulated environment. This role requires a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, hands-on experience with security tools such as Palo Alto Cortex XDR, Microsoft Defender, WireShark, and Tcpdump, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in cybersecurity practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the monitoring, detection, and response to cybersecurity threats and incidents using tools like Palo Alto Cortex XDR and Microsoft Defender.
- Perform network traffic analysis and troubleshooting using WireShark and Tcpdump.
- Support the implementation and management of security measures to protect IT infrastructure, applications, and data.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and security audits to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and refine security policies, procedures, and controls in line with regulatory standards.
- Assist in the investigation and documentation of security incidents, providing detailed reports on findings and remediation efforts.
- Participate in security awareness training for staff, helping to educate employees on best practices and emerging threats.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technology developments, recommending enhancements to the security posture as needed.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- US Citizen
- 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, with hands-on experience using Palo Alto Cortex XDR, Microsoft Defender, WireShark, and Tcpdump.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewall management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications relevant to the cybersecurity field (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP).
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in a regulated industry, particularly in energy or nuclear sectors.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
- Familiarity with incident response frameworks and processes.
