About Us
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization, scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The DNNP is progressing towards the execution phase which is planned to commence in early 2025.
The Project Quality Director reports directly to the Executive Quality Director and indirectly to the Project Execution Director and serves as a member of the JV Infrastructure team. The JV Quality Director sets the overall direction for JV Quality and ensures that the JV is fully supported from a Quality standpoint in an integrated, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
What is the Opportunity?
- Establishes standards and expectations for how we conduct Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) across all projects within the JV.
- Manages staffing requirements and resource sharing for the QA and QC department. Hires and develops QA and QC professionals with a focus on supporting critical succession management.
- Provides standardized reporting for the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functional areas ensuring that the Executive Project Director and all relevant stakeholders have access to valuable data and analytics. Utilizes reports to anticipate and resolve issues as required.
- Manages the performance and strong results of Quality personnel on all the JV projects. Ensures teams are clear and focused on performance objectives.
- Owns the Quality Assurance Program and monitoring to ensure appropriate planning, development, documentation, and maintenance of the quality assurance programs is executed.
- Provides indoctrination and training of project staff and management as defined in the Quality Assurance Program and Project Quality Management Plans.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years project experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership/management role.
- Expertise in Quality Assurance Programs and processes.
- Required Working Knowledge of CSA Standards N286, N285, N299.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physical Science, or related field.
- Certification(s) in: Quality Engineer (CQE), Quality Auditor (CQA), and/or ISO-9000 Auditor.
- Working knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 is an asset.
- Experience in developing and/or managing audit systems.
