We are currently seeking an experienced field technician to carry out field work on various Municipal and City projects. The technician will play a role in the delivery of assignments as per industry standards.
Location: Vaughan, ON.
Your role within the team:
Carrying out on-site concrete testing for Temperature, Air, Slump, and casting of compressive strength cylinders as per OPSS and CCIL standards.
Conducting on site Asphalt sampling, proper labelling, and delivery of paving materials, such as loose mix asphalt, tack coat, PGAC and granular materials for quality control and quality assurance laboratory testing.
Checking compaction of Asphalt and Soils using Nuclear Densometer as per project specification.
Working knowledge of Municipal, MTO specifications and standards.
Carry out aggregate sampling and compaction test on various municipal and city projects as per industry standards.
Carrying out asphalt and concrete coring for thickness and material composition investigation.
Monitor paving operations with respect to verification of material paved, Tack coat application, temperatures, lift thickness, surface deficiencies and reporting of any concerns to the client while on site.
Being able to work in fast paced environment and able to complete various tasks within set frame of time.
Compiling and submission of field forms and observation reports.
Liaison with all discipline team members, sub-contractors, clients, and agencies.

The ideal candidate:
A post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician or equivalent.
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working on MTO and municipal infrastructure projects.
Must hold CCIL/CSA or equalant certification to test concrete.
Previous engineering/construction experience is an asset.
Able to read CGS and MTO drawings and specifications.
A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Good written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational & time management skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Able to work on weekends, nights, shift work, additional hours as required.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Able to travel and work in GTA and out of town projects.
Designation as determined by OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T), Road Construction Senior / Junior Inspector (rcsi, rcji) Technology/Technician is an asset.
