Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist will be responsible for preparing and supporting the preparation of QA/QC documentation. In addition, the Quality Specialist shall lead the development of inspection, examination and testing techniques and processes while engaging specialist suppliers.
What You'll Do Here
- Establish and maintain QA/QC documentation.
- Prepare and revise fabrication Inspection and Test Plans
- Conduct quality review of RFQ documentation and contracts
- As required, participate in internal and supplier audits, and perform source surveillance.
- Support QA/QC activities for Fabrication and Construction
- Interface with and support strategic suppliers (ie NDE, Heat Treatment, and machining) in the development of techniques and processes.
- Provide drafting personnel in selection and documentation of Code or Standard related inspection, examination and testing requirements for the generation of drawings.
- Conduct quality review of supplier documentation, including Travelers, Inspection and Test Plans, NDE Procedures and qualifications, Weld Procedure Specification, and heat treatment instructions.
- As required, provide leadership to QC Inspectors
- Provide quarterly and annual trend analysis data supporting Quality Assurance Program trend report.
- As required, assist in QA/QC, Codes, Standards related training activities
- Assist in Quality and Manufacturing Engineering activities including continual improvements.
What You Bring To The Team
- At a minimum, a graduate of a three-year technology program at the College Level. Preferably a graduate of a recognized four-year university engineering program.
- Minimum 5 years experience in QA/QC related to the Nuclear Industry.
- General knowledge of nondestructive examination and other inspection techniques related to the construction and fabrication industry.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Computer literate in MS Office, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Excellent understanding of the following codes of construction:
- ASME Section III, Subsection NCA, NB, ND, NE, NF, NQA-1
- ASME Section II, Part A, B and C
- ASME Section V
- CSA N285.0, CSA B51, and CSA N299.
- ASME B31.1 and B31.3
- ANST-TC-1A
- CSA W59
- Familiar with the following Codes and Standards
- ASME Section I, Section VIII Div. 1, and ASME Section IX
- CSA N291 and CSA N287
- ANSI N690
- AWS D1.1 and D1.6
- The following Certifications would be an asset:
- Nuclear Lead Auditor
- CWB Weld Inspector- Level II (CWB 178.2)
- AWS QCI
- CGSB Level 2 -Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Technician.
