About
I have 19 years of experience in the nuclear industry as both a Radiation Protection Technician and a Coordinator for the Radiation Protection Department at a multi-unit nuclear power station. I have built my career around putting safety (nuclear, radiological, and industrial) first and ensuring that workers are performing their work in a safe manner. I am a hard worker who is always willing to lend a hand to my fellow co-workers and understand that teamwork is key to every jobs success.
I have been both a rotational shift worker and a lead RP Technician for several refueling outages. In my most recent job, I am the Coordinator for the Health Physics Department. In this role I review upcoming online, refueling outage, and project work to plan for the radiological controls and requirements expected for the jobs. I work with cross-discipline teams and discuss station activities with all levels of employee, from both in-the-field workers up to the Site Vice President. In addition, I oversee my current station's radiation shielding program. This involves designing both permanent and temporary radiation shielding packages, planning, and installing or overseeing their installation.
As a self-starter, I engage with industry peers and vendors to find ways to improve radiological performance and safety at the station. This has included simple improvements such as designing and purchasing portable, shielded frisking stations for HP Technicians up to implementing drones for radiological mapping of high dose rate areas to prevent worker exposure.
I look forward to utilizing my expertise and experience to further my career in the nuclear industry.
