ABOUT THE JOB - PURCHASING MANAGER

Salary Range: 120-130k - based on experience
Job Summary
Celeros FT is looking for a Purchasing Manager who can develop a supply chain strategy and efficiently manage the execution of all procurement and logistics activities in support of our Burlington, ON operations. This role will report to the Senior Director, Global Supply Chain. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated ability to develop high-performing teams and must enjoy the challenges of working in a highly engineered product environment. As Purchasing Manager, you will lead a team and be accountable for managing the end-to-end procurement-to-pay process. Building effective working relationships with stakeholders is a key element to success in the role, and you will be charged with managing supplier relations, setting clear expectations and providing timely feedback for both suppliers and the purchasing team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a team of buyers responsible for purchasing goods and services, and coordinating the logistics and transport of these items. Either through your own efforts or those of your team, you will:

- Manage day-to-day purchasing and logistics activities, ensuring that all buyers and logistics specialists are meeting their personal performance goals and standards.
- Assuring effective coordination between and within the purchasing and logistics teams.
- Assure high quality goods are procured by the purchasing team through active collaboration with the Celeros FT quality team.
- Locate materials, equipment and suppliers capable of providing goods and services that meet Celeros FT’s requirements.
- Negotiate and bid as necessary to attain competitive pricing and terms for goods and services.
- Develop sourcing strategies with consideration to ongoing cost reduction, while projecting outcomes and tracking results.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of purchasing, sourcing, supplier performance management, supply chain and inventory strategies and practices.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Leadership skills with ability to motivate oneself and foster individual professional development.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including active listening, identifying the issue, and driving solutions.
- Highly results driven with the ability to demonstrate supplier improvement and implement cost reduction programs.
- Ability to take an organized approach, set priorities, identify risks and opportunities, manage resources, milestones, and costs.
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal and intercultural sensitivity with the ability to work with suppliers across the globe.
- Experience working with a global supply base and ability to maintain relationship and communication with suppliers in low-cost countries.
- Technical (Eng) - ability to read drawings would be an asset.
- Ability to travel ~10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPM or APICS certification is helpful but not required.
- 5-to-10 years of experience in Supply Chain or Purchasing management with demonstrated experience in cost reduction, domestically and internationally.
- Experience leading and coaching a team of buyers with using a results-driven, servant leader approach.
- Manufacturing experience including experience with castings from a supply chain perspective.
- Proven history developing effective inventory management policies.
- Demonstrated competency in strategic sourcing.
