Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
- Participate in investigations and technical studies related to the inspection and repair of structures, testing of concrete and related materials, including material qualification and R&D.
- Analyze experimental data to assist professional staff in preparing technical reports.
- Perform civil structural inspections at a variety of client sites, including detailed reports.
- Recommend repair strategies, prepare repair specifications, plan/execute/oversee repair work.
- Interact with supervisory and support staff to ensure that work is completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.
- Maintain records of experimental work as per quality assurance requirements.
- Prepare routine and non-technical reports.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained and help to maintain a safe, well-organized work environment.
- Interact with customers and perform off-site work at utility customer sites (local and international travel may be required).
- Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of work performed. Maintain quality records.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
- Requires a good knowledge of concrete technology.
- Demonstrated computer skills for data acquisition and analysis.
- Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with colleagues and customers, technical report preparation, development of laboratory and testing procedures, reporting of testing results, etc.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills to receive and provide information to customers.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation and electronics.
- Basic knowledge of inspection and repair of structures
- Basic knowledge of testing of concrete and related materials.
- Ability to carry out and document test programs in accordance with established procedures.
- Must be able to travel to customer sites and participate in nuclear outage support work (this may include shift work)
- Willingness to work in the field for extended assignments (50%+ of time)
- Knowledge and experience with work procedures in nuclear generating stations is an asset.
- A period of 1-10 years related experience is considered necessary to gain this experience or equivalent advanced education.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired by successful completion of an undergraduate degree plus specialized courses in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent engineering technology program at a College of Applied Arts and Technology or Community College.
- P. Eng preferred, willingness to pursue is an asset
