What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The PCC Manager serves as the senior authority overseeing the overall health, integrity, and performance of the project schedule. This role is accountable for critical path management, schedule KPI tracking, and timely decision-making to resolve execution challenges that threaten project outcomes. The PCC Manager leads the Project Control Center (PCC), ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls functions.
What You'll Do Here:
- Owns the master project schedule and ensures alignment with execution strategies and contractual milestones.
- Leads critical path (CP) and near-critical path (NCP) oversight.
- Approves any schedule deviations that impact CP or NCP.
- Serves as the final decision authority on unresolved execution challenges escalated by the CCC or Bundle Leads.
- Enables rapid resolution of field issues by maintaining empowered functional representation within the PCC.
- Ensures a structured escalation pathway is followed and decisions are documented.
- Oversees project performance metrics (e.g., SPI, CPI, milestone adherence) and identifies trends affecting schedule health.
- Leads monthly KPI and schedule health reviews, initiating corrective actions where necessary.
- Collaborates with Project Controls to validate progress measurements and reporting accuracy.
- Chairs key PCC meetings including daily alignment, weekly execution reviews, and subcontractor performance reviews.
- Champions the integration of lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives into execution planning.
- Drives process standardization and best practices across all project bundles.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of 10 years construction supervision experience
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of self-perform trades work, estimating and employee relations required
- Skilled in using Primavera P6 for project scheduling, and advanced proficiency in other computer applications
- Proven track record in managing projects’ scope, timeline, and budgets
- Proficient trades union relations management skills, and a solid understanding of union agreements applicable to the work
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements
- Must understand how to support a positive Safety Culture.
- Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs
