HSE Manager

As part of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project, we are looking for a Senior Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager. The position reports to the AtkinsRéalis Canada Western Canadian Manager of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and have a dotted line to the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project Executive Director, Construction and Technical. The Senior HSE Manager will be responsible for leading the project leadership team to develop a Health, Safety & Environmental strategy for the project. They will ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of the systems, processes and procedures required to meet the strategic objectives and other stakeholder requirements. They will provide guidance and technical support to construction activities as it relates to HSE in accordance with local legislation and applicable Standards.
This role will be based in Burnaby, BC.
Your role within the team:
- Provide HSE leadership - Develop, communicate and coordinate the HSE Strategic Plan for the Project.
- Support and advise all directors, managers, consultants and other staff.
- Managing a direct team and being part of a broader project group.
- Ensure that processes and procedures needed for the HSE management system are established, implemented, and maintained - complete with associated functions, documentation, reporting and committees.
- Investigating HSE related reports and ensuring that the principles of continuous improvement are applied.
- Review accident and incident statistics, identify trends and recommend preventive and corrective action.
- Carrying out compliance auditing.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the HSE system and make recommendations for continual improvement.
- Report to the Manager of HSE of Western Canada on the performance of the HSE system and any need for improvement.
- Adhere with all AtkinsRéalis and the client HSE policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate:
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the development, implementation, maintenance and auditing of health and safety for projects of similar scope and complexity.
- Successful completion of ISO 45001 and/or BC Certificate of Recognition Lead Auditor (preferred, not essential).
- Ability to interact and engage with understanding, decisiveness, and professionalism.
- Be highly motivated, with strong integrity, commitment, and adaptability.
