Our team is hiring a Sr. Cyber Security Specialist to join our growing team to work on one of the most important Canadian airport projects. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to secure Operational Technology (OT) environments, including Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA systems, and related infrastructure. This role is responsible for identifying and mitigating cyber risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and facilitating collaboration between IT and OT cybersecurity functions. A key focus will be ensuring that control system network designs adhere to industry standards and best practices, promoting secure and efficient OT operations.
The project involves key technology systems contributing to mission-critical operations and business continuity. This position is based at our Project Office in the west end of Toronto, Ontario requiring the candidate to be in office Monday to Friday weekly.
Your role within the team:
- Lead the review and analysis of OT system vulnerabilities using tools such as Claroty.
- Provide actionable recommendations to mitigate cybersecurity threats and improve OT security posture.
- Conduct risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of mitigation strategies.
- Ensure alignment of control system network designs with security standards and performance optimization goals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain OT cybersecurity controls across systems, including SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and HMIs.
- Assist in incident response and recovery activities within OT environments.
- Promote and enforce OT cybersecurity policies and procedures based on NIST, IEC 62443, and/or ISO 27001 standards.
- Collaborate with IT, engineering, and operations teams to align cybersecurity strategies across enterprise networks.
- Support initiatives such as OT network segmentation, secure remote access, asset inventory management, and patching programs.
- Deliver training and awareness programs for OT teams on cybersecurity best practices.

The ideal candidate:
- College diploma or university degree in Engineering or a related technical field (P.Eng. or EIT is an asset but not required).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in OT environments, with proven experience designing and securing OT networks and infrastructure. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in OT cybersecurity.
- Experience in risk assessments, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance in industrial settings.
- Experience in critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, utilities, manufacturing, or transportation.
- Experience integrating SCADA and HMI development on platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, AVEVA PI System preferred.
- PLC Programming experience with any of the following platforms preferred: Rockwell (RSLogix 5/500/5000, Studio 5000), Siemens (STEP7, TIA Portal), Omron (CX-Programmer, Sysmac Studio), Schneider, Mitsubishi PLCs.
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience of ICS/SCADA systems and components.
- Familiarity with OT cybersecurity tools (e.g., Claroty, Nozomi, Dragos, etc.).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST, IEC 62443, ISO/IEC 27001.
- Exposure to Building Management Systems (BMS), Metasys, EPMS, and Life Safety Systems preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CompTIA Security+, CCNP preferred.
- Strong understanding of ICS/SCADA systems and proven experience designing and securing OT networks.
- The ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
- Ability to bridge technical and operational gaps between IT and OT teams.
- Ability to bridge IT and OT cybersecurity functions.
- Critical thinking and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
