Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Analyst plays a crucial role in preparing various financial information published to the market and provided to senior management. This corporate role offers excellent visibility into the company's'objectives and challenges. You will interact with employees at all levels and prepare analyses that will influence senior management decisions. Microsoft Office and Oracle will be your primary tools. Outside of the quarterly reporting periods, the FP&A team also actively participates in the transformation and continuous improvement processes of the corporate finance function.
Based in Montréal headquarters, you will work within a team of six people who are committed to creating a high-performance and friendly work environment. In a hybrid work format, the FP&A team meets in person two to three times per week. Your role
- Management Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) reports. Ensure the timely and accurate production of reports on financial performance and other key metrics.
- On a quarterly basis, you will:
- Produce the consolidated income statement for the financial statement, the management discussion and analysis (MD&A) and the report to the members of the executive committee.
- Prepare various notes to the financial statements.
- Perform calculations for financial performance and liquidity measures and ratios.
- Prepare and provide various reports to multiple internal departments as well as to external auditors.
- Review the various reports before they are published.
- Data Management: On a monthly basis, maintain and update financial databases and spreadsheets. Work closely with our Financial Systems - Center of Excellence team & tools to perform internal controls on the data quality, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Financial Analysis: Consolidate data from multiple sources to prepare financial analysis, including variance analysis by region, trend analysis, and forecasting. Present financial results, estimates, and analysis to team members.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including accounting, operations, and business units, to gather information and support financial planning and analysis activities.
- Support to the forecasting team: Validate presentations and files for the Budget/Forecast, including updating management information, verifying the accuracy of monthly results, and analyzing variances from the previous year's budget/forecast. Report gaps/anomalies and suggesting corrective actions.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency and effectiveness of processes within the FP&A function. Participate in special projects and assist in implementing best practices.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform financial analyses and special projects as needed. Support business decision-making with detailed and accurate financial information, actionable insights and recommendations based on your findings.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
- Interest in developing expertise in financial systems and other financial planning and analysis tools (Oracle - ePBCS).
- CPA title, an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to detail.
- Time management, prioritization, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with employees from various departments.
- Bilingual in French/English (written and spoken). *
Additional Assets:
- Experience with a financial system/tool (Oracle).
- Proficiency with PowerPoint presentations.
- Experience in financial disclosure/audit.
* Member of the Canadian or Global Leadership Team: This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
