We are looking for a Field Technical Specialist for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario.
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for the development, maintenance, testing, installation and support of electrical, video, network and controllers related equipment used for servicing nuclear power plants in Canada and abroad.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical
- Ability to build, wire, solder per electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, manufacturer’s datasheets and reference manuals (control cables, control boxes, electric motors, etc.).
- Ability to learn and operate various software applications for programming, diagnostic, and operational purposes.
- Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and digital multimeters.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with tooling.
- Knowledge and understanding of networking/communication protocols.
- Knowledge and understanding of remote video equipment and remote communications equipment.
- Provide design input based on tool use, tool testing and field experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead junior technicians and other work groups in the field.
- Responsible for setting up network and video systems for all BWXT programs.
- Provide technical oversight during critical work evolutions.
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians.
Communication
- Prepare/provide technical summaries and presentations to management.
- Communicate progress, issues, support required, etc. to customers.
- Communicate with other technicians, trades, engineers and management on a daily basis.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-Secondary education in Electrical/Electronics Technician program or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years related experience.
- Ability to work well alone or as part of a team. Sometimes in a lead role.
- Willing to travel 50 - 60% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Nuclear Power Plant Sites.
