What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Technical Director, SMR Program, this senior role will support work within the Nuclear New Build portfolio of work including Small Modular Reactor Power Plants, Gigawatt-scale Large Reactor Power Plants, the Deep Geologic Repository, and other nuclear new-build projects on the horizon. The opportunity is to use construction experience and technical skills to support our clients in project development, planning, estimating, and execution of new low-carbon power generation technologies.
The SME, Construction Execution will be responsible for supporting the Technical Director and new build team in a variety of functions that will vary depending on client needs and project status. This position will be accountable for providing experience-based construction insights to support or lead tasks such as technology selection, estimating support, report preparation, industry research, and constructability reviews. The SME, Construction Execution will be responsible for the quality of inputs and outputs, ensuring that deliverables are technically accurate and complete, and gathering and considering inputs from other subject matter experts and project lessons learned.
What You'll Do Here:
- Participate in RFQ & RFPs as required and lead when needed.
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate various scopes of work and tasks related to major nuclear projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, contract terms, and budget constraints.
- Participate in the development and submission of project estimates.
- Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones.
- Build an inclusive culture of high safety and production performance, fostering trust and relationships with both the team and clients.
- Create, evaluate, and implement ideas that improve the designs or construction methods.
- Ensure all internal processes and/or client business processes are communicated and followed by the appropriate level of supervision in the projects.
- Lead presentations to key stakeholders to ensure proper communication of evaluations, deliverables, and construction or industry insights.
- Develop means and methods for construction of proposed projects and technologies, including construction sequence and duration.
- Read and interpret drawings and technical information to determine construction plans, identifying and rectifying any issues or questions pertaining to the documents.
- Evaluate/solve constructability and planning issues specific to projects.
- Prepare site setup and layout plans to facilitate best performance in construction execution.
- Lead or participate in regular project meetings with project team and clients to ensure the deliverables and milestones are on target.
What You Bring To The Team:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or another relevant field with a focus on nuclear construction.
- Collaborative, agile leader who can work within interdivisional teams, joint venture partners, and advanced contracting models.
- 15+ years with medium to large projects.
- 10+ years’ construction experience in a supervisory capacity in the nuclear sector.
- Excellent budgeting, costing, and scheduling skills.
- Strong computer skills with MS Office and Project Management Systems.
- Strong leadership skills with experience and a sound understanding of all disciplines, possessing unique strength in a specific discipline or construction area.
- Ability to inspire trust in difficult situations by instilling confidence and engaging people on matters that affect them within the industry.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges specific to projects.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all work tasks.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency, ownership, and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast-paced environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including capability and proficiency in technical writing.
