The Role
As a member of the Technical Services team, you will report to the senior project manager, technical products and play a key role in the hands-on execution of the capital mobile equipment program across Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan operations. This role supports capital equipment projects at various stages of the project lifecycle, from concept development and framing through to implementation while aligned with life-of-mine equipment strategies. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are planned and executed in accordance with stakeholder requirements and Cameco’s business objectives. The successful candidate will be a driven, adaptable professional who ensures mobile equipment projects meet established requirements with respect to budget, schedule, scope, quality, health, safety, and environmental performance.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support the planning and execution of capital mobile equipment projects.
- Ensure compliance with Cameco standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Identify, secure, and coordinate project resources.
- Monitor and report project status, risks, and performance to management.
- Facilitate issue resolution and proactive risk management.
- Champion a safety-first mindset and promote a culture aligned with Cameco values.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery effectiveness and efficiency.
Required:
- interprovincial heavy duty mechanic journeyperson ticket or a technical diploma or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience);
- minimum of eight years of experience in mobile equipment and/or project management roles within a mining or industrial environment;
- proven experience working with tier 1 mining equipment manufacturers, including Caterpillar, John Deere, Sandvik, MacLean Engineering, Normet, Western Star, Bobcat, and JCB;
- demonstrated capability in equipment selection, lifecycle planning, rebuild strategies, and performance optimization;
- experience with new equipment introduction, equipment rebuilds, or equipment manufacturing projects is considered an asset;
- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, changing environment, building productive relationships across technical, operational, and leadership teams; and
- willingness to travel frequently to northern Saskatchewan sites during active project planning and execution phases.
Recommended:
- PMP certification with hands-on experience delivering mobile equipment–related capital projects;
- experience in an underground mining environment, particularly within mobile maintenance planning or equipment lifecycle roles; and
- proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project, and SAP or equivalent enterprise systems.
