The Engineering Services Department is currently looking for a Fire Protection Specialist for its National Capital Region office. Our team of experts understands that Fire Protection Engineering is a multi-disciplinary field. As such, we are looking to build a team of specialists of various focuses within the multi-faceted fire protection industry. This role will be based in Ottawa, ON.
Your role within the team:
- Develop designs and specifications for fire detection and/or suppression systems.
- Integrated Fire and Life Safety Systems Testing services.
- Report on building and fire code compliance for new and existing facilities.
- Evaluate buildings and designs for fire resistance and enclosure integrity.
- Occupancy classifications and load calculations.
- Developing material take-offs and cost estimates.
- Ensuring all completed work conforms to contract requirements.
- Conducting site visits and inspections.
- Coordinate with other disciplines in planning and executing project tasks.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Diploma in Architectural Technology or Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in related field.
- Understanding of nuclear engineering design processes an asset.
- Participation within fire protection industry associations an asset.
- Ability to cross over multi-disciplinary projects.
- Good understanding of fire protection engineering concepts and methods.
- Collaborative approach and good communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Submit for and maintain a federal security clearance.
- Valid driving permit is an asset.
- Bilingualism French and English (written and spoken) an asset.
