Senior Electrical Engineer, located in Burlington or Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid worring arrangement of 2 to 3 days per week onsite)
About the Opportunity
Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
What will you do?
Your day to day:
- Design comprehensive control systems, including control cabinet/panel design as well as custom circuit board design for a variety of electro-mechanical systems from the ground up
- Create detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials in accordance with the WEC Quality Assurance Manual
- Develop project documentation in accordance with the Westinghouse QAM
- Develop component specifications and purchasing requests in compliance with the WEC QAM
- Support the assembly of control systems designed by the controls engineering team
- Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly
- Assist with the development of test procedures for control systems to ensure compliance with design specifications
- Assist with the operation of the final tooling system in the customer facilities
- Prepares reports, designs, calculations, analyses etc. in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, or other specifications
- Conducts tests, gathers and analyzes information, helps interpret findings
- Requires familiarity with technical terms or procedures basic to the function in order to communicate effectively with co-workers
- Attend client’s site to conduct site inspections.
- Reviewing, approving and sealing design reports, technical documentation and drawings
- Collaborating globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists
- Driving innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
What will you bring?
Who you are:
Required:
- Registered EIT with PEO
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience in AutoCAD Electrical, EAGLE or equivalent tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and highly organized
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred:
- Licensed P.Eng. member of Professional Engineers Ontario
- Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment.
- Experience with software such as Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
- Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors.
